- Derek Butcher (09 Feb 1999): This plant was bought by Marie Robinson at either the
Sydney Conference in
1991 or the Brisbane Conference in 1993 but she lost the label. We assume it was an
alleged species because that was what Marie used to collect and as such would have been an
import from America to Australia rather than a seed
grown Australian plant. It flowered in Nov 1997 and I have been unable to name it ever
since. It does not key out and seems to be a Tillandsia duratii hybrid. Renate Ehlers has
just confirmed that it is a strange one to her too!
- Eric Gouda (09 Feb 1999): It may be a hybrid of Tillandsia latifolia
- Derek (10 Feb 1999): Walter Till has already suggested gardneri x duratii with a
possible source of John Arden.I
have a feeling it is more likely Mark Dimmitt if it had human intervention.
