Opmerking (9914): Uncle Derek (2012-07-16) - What makes you doubt the species name? Have you compared it against the description or the photo on fcbs.org. As for the terminal flower remember one of its synonyms is Quesnelia centralis (Verzonden: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
Opmerking (9914): Wesley Schilling (2012-07-16) - My Q. lateralis flowers both lateral and terminal and does not have this size of inflorescence on either. Could this be either a cultivar from Chris's area or a hybrid of lateralis? My plant came from a well known Bromeliad nursery out of Florida. (Verzonden: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
Opmerking (9914): Eric Gouda (2012-07-16) - Our plant does have central and lateral inflorescences too, but this one seems to be different (more dense). Mostly the floral bracts of the upper flowers are equaling the sepals, those of the lower ones much exceeding them. Your plant has the sepals much exceeding the floral bracts and could be a hybrid of this species. Your flowers do look more like an Aechmea flower comparing to our plant (attenuate corolla), which was depicted in J. Bromeliad Soc. 56:53. (Verzonden: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
Opmerking (9914): Chris Georege (2012-07-16) - I have not compared it to the description of Q. lateralis, but I have compared it to all the quesenelia's on FCBS.org. My plant didn't quite match any of them, but looked closest to Q. lateralis, which was the name it came with.
