Locality: Ecuador, Azuay Province - Rd East from Banos (Cuenca) toward Cajais National Park at an elevation of 2941 meters. Also before this at an elevation of 2658 meters, and finally several times later in the trip in Loja Province at an elevation of 3137 meters.
Photographer: Jerry Raack
Note: This 3rd picture is from high elevation in a dry valley just west of La Paz at 3137 meters. Note how dried the tips of the leaves are, yet it has a beautiful bloom. The actual blooming plant in picture 1 is also very dried out and in bad shape. The offsets from it are the plants that are the nice bright green color.
